Ontario
Government No to Sharia Law
TORONTO

about 100 protestors gathered at Queens Park to send a clear message to the
government that they do not want Sharia law in
Ontario
. They were part of an international demonstration taking place on the same day in
Ottawa
,Montrail, Surry,
Penticton
,
Vancouver
,
Victoria
,
Sweden
,
Germany
and
England
.
Support
from the Mainstream
Most
of the protestors and speakers were women and men from the Muslim community who have been
spearheading the Campaign to End Sharia Courts in
Canada
. However support for the movement is now beginning to spread to the mainstream of
Canadian society. Various speakers voiced their concern and support, including a concerned
group of 250 retirees from Collingwood
Ontario
.
Over
4000 people have signed the petition To End Sharia Courts in
Canada
, and over 100 new names are added each day. The petition
can be found at www.nosharia.com.
The
Ontario
government plans to release their report on religion based Arbitration by September 30th.
